When the weather is stable for a while we want to stay on the grass below the Eifelturm but we'll probably walk over to the University area for some beers.

http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/forum/friday-night-fever

Last time I visited Paris this was very fun and I believe they still do it. It's rollerblading through the streets, in a big crowd, late at night (10pm - 1am)

http://www.pari-roller.com/index.php?p=101

If anyone is interested in this Friday night, we should rent rollerblades in advance.

http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/forum/geeks-tour-louvre

Anyone interested in doing a geek's tour of the Louvre on Friday night?

The Louvre is open untill 22:00 (if I'm not mistaken)

Basically: the tour would go through the Antiquities rooms (middle eastern, egyptian, greek, roman, etruscan) and NOT through the paintings (especially not 17th and 18th century french paintings :)

The geek's tour would/should at least include such items as:

Code of Hamurabi

I make no claims to these being the ‘best’ places in town, but here’s a brain dump of various places I know, which I guess I should add to the Google map if I get a chance…

http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/forum/museums-later-hours

For those of you wanting your art and culture fix, it's worth noting two museums with unusual hours:

Thursdays: the Musée d'Orsay is open until 9:45pm.
Wednesdays and Fridays: the Louvre is open until 10pm.

http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/forum/outdoor-cinema-festivals

In case anybody fancies looking at a big screen after spending all day staring at a small screen...

Paris hosts several free outdoor film festivals over the summer. Films are generally shown in the original language, and subtitled in French. Unfortunately most will be over by the time Drupalcon starts but, for anybody arriving in Paris early, here are a few links anyway:

http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/forum/places-eat-paris

I lived in Paris for one year (2003-2004).

Well, Paris is one big restaurant, and there are hardly any bad places to eat.

Tips:

1. Go for a set menu - A very good option is to go to restaurants that offer a set menu - 2 or 3-course-meal, where you can choose between a few options for a appetizer, a few options of a main dish and a few options for a desert. Many restaurants offer this, not only for lunch. For lunch, you can easily eat well at a bistrot for as little as €8.
It is usually very attractive, price-wise and quality-wise.
