DrupalConParis2009 - drupal 7 http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/taxonomy/term/16/0 en Coder Module: Easily Port Modules to Drupal 7 http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/session/coder-module-easily-port-modules-drupal-7 <p>Drupal has a number of coding standards that all contributed Drupal modules and themes should be using. Instead of each developer coding in their own preferred style, they are asked to write all code according to the standards outlined in the document. This ensures that all of Drupal's code is written to a consistent standard, making it easier to understand and modify. Drupal also provides its own set of API functions, and as the drop is always moving, a large number of these API functions can change between major releases of Drupal.</p> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-bio-booklet"> <div class="field-label">Speaker bio:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Stella Power starting using Drupal over 3 years ago. The new system includes over a dozen new features, from a query builder in core to support for Master/slave replication. As with most major overhauls, however, that means API changes. This session will cover the challenges of database abstraction, Drupal's approach, and how to fully leverage the new system in your own code and sites.</p> <p>Agenda</p> <p>&lt;</p> <p>ul&gt;</p> <li>Database abstraction: Why it's hard and even an unsolvable problem.</li> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-bio-booklet"> <div class="field-label">Speaker bio:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> After four years working with Drupal, Larry Garfield is the Senior Lead of Programming at Palantir.net. When he&#039;s not leading a crack team of Drupal gurus to build sites for universities and art museums, he can often be found gutting and rewriting major Drupal subsystems for fun, or visiting his therapist about that issue. </div> </div> </div> <p><a href="http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/session/drupals-new-database-layer" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/session/drupals-new-database-layer#comments drupal 7 Mon, 08 Jun 2009 19:47:17 +0000 Crell 568 at http://paris2009.drupalcon.org
