Speaker bio:

Andrew Larcombe is a partner in NetDojo LLP and specializes in geospatial consulting and development. He built his first geo-mashup in 1993 with a teletext receiver and a copy of AutoRoute, by 2000 was producing javascript-powered web maps and has been developing and consulting on Drupal sites for 2.5 years. Along the way he's written everything from spatial indexing libraries to desktop applications to CMS frameworks in C++, Perl, PHP and Ruby. Andrew holds a BA and MA from the University of London and is currently Vice-Chair of the BCS Geospatial SG.

Despite its importance, search is often an afterthought when building a Drupal site. The core Search module lacks the features and and advanced syntax to be a viable solution, yet the complexity and unwieldy installations of other contributed search modules often leave developers with little choice. Search Lucene API is an easy-to-install, configurable module that brings an alternative solution within any developer's reach.

Speaker bio:

Chris Pliakas is an Engineer and Systems Administrator at CommonPlaces e-Solutions, LLC located in Hampstead, New Hampshire and is the author of the Cron MT and Lucene API modules. He is an open source enthusiast who has been building Internet applications with Drupal for close to two years. Chris is a Zend certified PHP 5 Engineer, a certified MySQL 5 developer and administrator, and holds a Linux Professional Institute Level 1 certification. In future projects, Chris hopes to integrate the Zend Framework into Drupal and move bring the more advanced language constructs PHP 5 has to offer into the Drupal community.
