Build A Community Site - No Coding Required
In November of last year, my wife and I launched TraumaAdoption.org as a way to support the foster care and adoptive community--particularly those who have adopted or foster kids from tough circumstances. We decided to build the site in Drupal using Core, Contributed Modules, and a Contributed Theme. It took less than two weeks in our spare time.
This session will cover, from soup to nuts, creation of a modest community site using only Drupal Core, Contributed Modules, and a Contributed Theme. We'll look at:
- Gathering Your Resources
- Blocking Your Site Out
- Setting Up Content Types
- A REALLY Basic Introduction to Views
- Dealing With Spam
- Setting Up Basic SEO
At the end of the session we'll have a community site configured which includes a blog, forums, static pages, and a links section.
This session is for beginners to learn the basics of Drupal configuration with thought to basic Information Architecture.
