English Drupal rocks, we all know that. But for non-english speakers (french users in our example, but this is not restrictive), whereas a basic drupal installation in their language is now a basic, when it comes to "can't live without them" modules, UI is often only in English. When a big institutional customer has to benchmark different CMSes, this can plague drupal.
Considering this, many French users have begun translating modules since the 5.x version, generally for their needs. Today, the french community is getting adult and many good wills are heading towards translating drupal stuff (modules, advanced help, documentation), for everyone needs it and benefits from it.
In this session, we'll (sbordage and I) cover the following points :
- where is drupal modules french translation now ?
- the newborn drupal french translation group
- HOWTO : translate a module the right way (potx, poedit, issues, cvs, l10n server, drupal specific wording) for you language (see, slovenian or japanese people can attend that lecture)
- For developers and themers : good coding practices reminders for language-agnostic development
Everyone having a small drupal knowledge (white belts as black belts will be accepted in the dojo) and willing to do/know more about translation should attend this lecture.
