craigslist paris has flats for rent

You might also try craigslist(Paris).
I found a flat this way. Most are at least as expensive as a hotel room but quite nice, and you can share a flat. Also most are usually only available in August, but there are exceptions.

(Beware of scams though - 'send me Western Union money order' etc.)
