Outdoor Cinema Festivals
In case anybody fancies looking at a big screen after spending all day staring at a small screen...
Paris hosts several free outdoor film festivals over the summer. Films are generally shown in the original language, and subtitled in French. Unfortunately most will be over by the time Drupalcon starts but, for anybody arriving in Paris early, here are a few links anyway:
Cinéma en plein air, Parc de la Villette, 15/07 - 16/08:

Join the crowds for a picnic in the park before the film starts around 10pm (then dash for the last metro home afterwards). Deckchairs can be hired, but you risk making yourself unpopular with anybody sat on the ground behind you, so choose your spot carefully!
Cinéma au clair de lune, various locations in Paris, 05/08 - 23/08:

Films are shown in various parks and squares in Paris, usually in a location with a link to the film being shown. Some places have limited chairs available, but it's best to bring something comfortable to sit on. Two of the projections will be in the parc Montsouris, just opposite the Drupalcon location.
Festival Silhouette, Parc des Buttes Chaumont, 29/08 - 06/09:

The official site doesn't seem to be ready, and this year's programme isn't available yet, but this festival shows a wide variety of short films, and is on during Drupalcon. After the films, it's only a short walk to the canal St Martin for an after-show stroll or drink.
Looks good, thanks for this. I'd like to hear some French bands.
The Festival Silhouette also organises several concerts with according to the website local French artists. This might be something more suitable for foreigners than French movies (language barrier). The official website is http://www.association-silhouette.com/.
