Running in Paris

Hi all,
It's an unfortunate coincidence, but Drupalcon Paris is 3 weeks before the Berlin marathon, which means I must combine heavy training with the conference :-)

I'll be running most morning and evenings, and am looking for training partners.
My training will vary between 6 min miles, and 8 min miles [3.75min per km to 5min per km].

I guess this might make more sense when I have my accommodation sorted, and know where I'm staying...
but anyway, if there are any runners out there, lets hear from you!

[UPDATE]
We meet at 7:00 am outside the gate of the conference building. This gives us enough time to run, get back, have breakfast and report for duty at 9am.
ALL levels welcome - we just go across the road to the park, so people can go at their own pace.

Tomorrow morning?

Hi Alan,

was out later than expected last night! So hopefully will make it out for a run tomorrow morning assuming I go to bed early enough tonight!

Slower runners

I'll have my running shoes with me as well. I won't be able to join you tomorrow because I'll just be flying in, but if jet lag and "DrupalCon extracurriculars" don't stop me, I'll be ready to run Wed-Sat. For me, 8 minute/mile pace would be aggressive, and 6 minute pace is just plain crazy! So if there are other runners out there who would prefer 8:30-9 minutes/mile, let me know and we can find a good time/place to start.

Alan, best success with your training and your marathon--I hope to run Berlin one day. For now, I'm training for the Atlanta Marathon in late November.

And now... off for a short run before I catch my flight!

Not as close to Cite Universitaire as I thought

Well, my hotel is not so close to the venue after all, so I'll launch my runs from the Moulin Vert where I am staying. Anyone nearby (near the Pernety and Alesia metro stations) welcome to join me this week. DM or @ me on Twitter @paulmckibben if you're interested.

Room for all

I do most of my training at 7:15 per mile or thereabouts, but I happily run 8 and 9 min miles too!
A 6 min mile is a specific training session - not 10 miles at that pace :-0

Anway, there will be room for all paces - just some social running and chatting about Drupal of course!

Nearly There!

Hi all,
Hope you've packed your trainers for Paris:-)

I'm staying just down the road from the venue,
so maybe the best thing is to meet there.

How about 7:30am?

I'll be there on the Tuesday morning,
and we'll see how it goes.

You've got a perfect place

You've got a perfect place for the marathon, Berlin's pretty much flat. You can feel bad for those running the Edinburgh marathon!

I'll pack my running shoes.

I'll try to join you on some 8min mile sessions, though past DrupalCon experience tells me I might not be up first thing in the morning ;-)

Local Athletic Clubs

Also,
If anybody local knows of any good parks for running close to the conference centre,
or running tracks, or even local running clubs, that would be great.

Parks and Stadiums

Just behind the Maison Internationale, on campus, is a park where people jog regularly, and as already mentioned, there is the Parc Montsouris just opposite of the entrance.

We will put also more info on the site as we go along. hunvreus is organising any sports activity, so there might be jogging groups (if interested). There also is a survey in place to find out what you prefer.

Don't hesitate to also put other suggestions, wishes etc. :)

Running

Hi,

The Parc Montsouris, right opposite the conference hall is popular with local joggers, but not sure if it would suit serious runners. Just to the east though, is the Stade Charlety, which has a running track, although I'm not sure how the access works. Sorry if that's a bit vague, but I'm not a runner, just a local!
