Bonjour,

So I'm still in search of a ticket for DrupalCon 3 weeks later. I'd have one already were I not robbed while on holidays in the south but the day I received my first replacement card from Australia was the day of the sold out announcement. Serves me right for not snapping up an early bird I guess, but then I wasn't sure I'd be in the country.

Anyway it's no secret that I'm opposed to scalping (along with everyone else it seems) so the thought of the DrupalCon organisers officially forbidding scalping only to then offer late-bird tickets at 300+% markup doesn't sit well with me - it seems at best ironic and at worst a complete and utter farce. I guess they need to cover their costs somehow but is another €20k on top of €200k raised in tickets alone worth selling out for? I'm unconvinced.

That's not to say I wouldn't consider paying the maximum allowed €250 (in Paris in cash if you prefer), making a donation to some other non-profit like the FSF or EFF, entertaining and/or accommodating someone, etc. so if you or someone you know is sick or busy or just can't make it for some reason then I will be more than happy to relieve you of your ticket.

Cheers,

Sam
