Outside the DrupalCon Paris ...

... a lot is happening !

In a few days you will set foot in Paris, the City of Lights, the City of Love, and much more than this!

You are probably wondering what you are going to do, see, visit, eat or drink during your stay in France. There is no need for you to get all worked up about all this because we have several suggestions to cater for all tastes!

You can get together with the other Drupalgängers (i.e. those people like you who accompany the participants to the DrupalCon but do not attend the conference), take part in some of the activities we have planned for you and discover some hidden places and secret spots in Paris. We will even provide you with a map of the city and a guidebook in English.

Tuesday, Sept. 1st

Wednesday, Sept. 2nd

Thursday, Sept. 3rd

Friday, Sept. 4th

Saturday, Sept. 5th

  • Saturday morning is free, but you can still ask us for suggestions (Versailles, Louvres, Orsay, Buttes aux Cailles, the Quartier Latin, the Tuileries, etc.)
  • Meeting at Place du Châtelet at 1.30 pm
  • Visit of the Wine Museum and wine tasting session (3 glasses of French wines)
  • Cruise on the Seine on board a Bateau-Mouche from the Eiffel Tower to Notre-Dame in the afternoon

The number of participants in some activities is limited and the access to those activities will be given on a "first-come, first-served" basis. That's why you must register here. For those activities that are not limited, please fill in the form too, so we know how many people will participate.

Those of you who won't want to take part in the activities of the day, but who would still like to visit other places of Paris with other Drupalgängers, will meet at the venue at 9.30 am everyday.

For those who will arrive in Paris before the conference starts, a trip to Chartres is planned on Monday, Aug. 31th. The meeting point will be Montparnasse train station, platform 9, at 9 am .
A meet up will follow at the Palantir apartment. Conference attending partners and family are welcome ! You can arrive any time between 6 pm and 7 pm. At 7 pm anyone who wants to join in will then head to Bastille, where there are many bars and restaurants.

Meeting Point

The meeting point will be the Palm Fountain on the Place du Châtelet (near the metro station Châtelet). We will meet at 9.30 am everyday, except on Saturday.

On the first day of the conference, Tuesday 1st September, we will meet at 9.30 am at the Cité Universitaire, where the conference is held. You will be given a map and a guidebook.

We seek one or two volunteers, fluent in French and English, to guide the group(s) during the visits. If you think you’re the right (wo)man for the job, get in touch with us !

As some of you will drag their entire family along, we have arranged babysitting (with an extra fee) so you can enjoy your visits with an easy mind. For more information, have a look on this page. You can also bring your little ones with you during the visits.

Here is more information on budgeting, visiting and French ways and customs.
